The major problem is that care has
to be taken to record all prior existing varieties as a proper
registration process is initiated. In fact, only some hundreds of
varieties have been actually registered, the others being pre-existing.
From now on, the formal process will ensure a central register is
compiled from hybridizer submissions. The rules in the Code, a large
volume which dictates what the Registrar has to do, are somewhat
daunting and hybridizers should contact the Registrar for advice when
points of concern arise.
